Tulle on Tuesday

Tulle on Tuesday

This gem of a tulle skirt arrived on my desk on Monday and I knew exactly how I wanted to style it to wear to work the next day. Worn as a high-waisted skirt, the combination of the belt and shoes tied the outfit together despite the contrast of the tulle and plaid combo. Just be prepared to be razzed for dressing like a ‘farming ballerina’ if you wear this little number to your corporate job. ;)
Happy Wednesday Friends!! :)

Fun with Fun Fur

Fun with Fun Fur

They say that you can categorize the way women dress in two ways: women who dress for men and women who dress for women. Last week, I wore this outfit to work and it was immediately apparent which category I fall into. Within the span of a half hour, the men in my office had dished out about a dozen quick witted comments regarding the ‘road kill’ on my back or the ‘official Game of Thrones’ merchandise I was wearing. Despite their jeering, I will stand by the fact that this outfit was nothing short of fabulous. And the ladies in my office will stand behind me on this one!!! haha.

A few differences between this posting and the reality: my vest was from Modcloth, but alas it is sold out, and my dress was picked up from Club Monaco a couple of months back on super sale.

The entire look was pulled together with a high bun and a lot of sass. Oh yeah…I said sass…..now you’re mocking me aren’t you?!?! ;)

Happy Tuesday.

Tuesday Workwear

Tuesday Workwear
I love pencil skirts for work. I am obsessed with colourful pencil skirts. The one I wore to work on Tuesday is a cheapy from Forever 21, which I also own in hot pink. This shade of blue is perfect for work because it’s that bit of colour that my outfit needs to keep me from looking too dowdy….and I suppose the studded belt doesn’t scream librarian either. ;)
Happy Tuesday friends.

Monday Morning Pop of Color

Monday Morning Pop of Color
Starting off a work week in January is never fun, however I figured I would give it my best go by dressing with a pop of colour – hot pink to be exact! As we are well into winter in Calgary, panty hose is a must. I’m not kidding girls. No amount of self tanner is going to make my legs appropriate for tight-free outfits. Special thanks to Kate Middleton for bring pantyhose back….I owe you one. ;) Now….let’s take on this week friends.

Snow Day

Snow Day
I took the day off work today as a “snow day”. Not in the mood to dress up like I do most weekdays, I took advantage of my kick-back day to wear this adorable new sweater I picked up on sale at Old Navy. I paired the sweater with a plaid shirt I have from Forever 21 and rolled up the sleeves of both shirts so that the pops of red plaid were showing. Fuzzy warms socks, high boots and a bit of sparkle, pulled the whole outfit together which took me from a fabulous lunch with friends to my swim practice with my amazing teammates. :)

Happy Birthday 12/12/12

Happy Birthday 12/12/12
It’s my birthday on December 12th and it also happens to be my work Christmas party. For both of these reasons I needed to put together a cute little number that was fun and festive, but still work appropriate. The skirt I have is from Nasty Gal (featured in ‘Two Pugs and a Nugget Love Ombre’). It is fairly short, but with solid black tights, it becomes a heck of a lot more conservative. Once again, I am going to be rocking my black ankle booties from Modcloth and piling on the gold bangles, and ‘tough girl’ bracelets. Who said getting older wasn’t fun or fashionable?!?
One year older and never better! :)

Concert Date Night

Concert Date Night

Dear John and I had topped off our crazy (but amazing) day by going to a concert. Despite the freezing temperatures outside, we had a blast at the show, even making some rather unforgettable friends along the way. As a quick aside, what do you do when you are NOT at a U2 concert but the girl beside you keeps yelling for Bono?!? Anyways, I spent too much time deliberating about what to wear and arrived on this little ensemble. The dress I wore was a steal that I found at Club Monaco on sale (similar to the one I have posted) and has the most beautiful cut-out back detail. The boots and socks, although a must, definitely transformed the dress into a more casual look and the gold jewelry was that bit of Mr. T-chic that every girl needs when rocking out well past her bedtime. ;) And as a final shout out, to my fabulous friend who shall remain un-named, YES, I did paint my nails….finally. :) Happy rest of your weekend friends.

Leopard Love

Leopard Love
This outfit was a bit of a panicked put-together, but turned out quite well. My beautiful Stella & Dot jewelery arrived yesterday so that was an obvious choice to wear. :) I have to confess though, despite having grand ambitions to paint my nails with Essie’s Chinchilly, I ran out of time before bed last night, so I’m still sporting my horribly chipped red polish from earlier in the week. ;)

Tartan Tuesday

Tartan Tuesday
On Tuesday, I wore this outfit to work and more importantly, to a fabulous luncheon with my swimming ladies at the Palliser Hotel in downtown Calgary. The dress I wore was fairly similar to the one shown, however mine was significantly less expensive (see it here). Paired with a custom made blazer (purchased on a trip to Vietnam a couple of years back), my adorable new Modcloth boots and some golden accessories, I felt great all day.
