Pugs and Sequins

Pugs and Sequins
To finish of the work week, I decided to put together a fun little ensemble that combined two of my favourite wardrobe items: sequins & pugs. The red sequins on their own can be a bit showgirl, but I felt the balance of my fun, pug muscle-tee and my ‘all business’ blazer created the perfect mix that wasn’t too over the top to rock at work. The Donald did have some delightful commentary on this outfit, but given that it was less-than-blog-friendly, I’ll have to e-mail it to you separately if you are interested in knowing.  :)
Have a safe and fabulous weekend Friends!!!

Tulle on Tuesday

Tulle on Tuesday

This gem of a tulle skirt arrived on my desk on Monday and I knew exactly how I wanted to style it to wear to work the next day. Worn as a high-waisted skirt, the combination of the belt and shoes tied the outfit together despite the contrast of the tulle and plaid combo. Just be prepared to be razzed for dressing like a ‘farming ballerina’ if you wear this little number to your corporate job. ;)
Happy Wednesday Friends!! :)

Sequins for Spring

Sequins for Spring

Last week we had beautiful weather so I decided to really push the envelope with my work apparel and wear open-toe shoes and some vibrant coral coloured skimmer pants. I am obsessed with my chambray shirt, so it was a natural choice when I needed a piece to layer under my sequin tee from J Crew. What kinds of outfits are you putting together to bring in spring?

Fun with Fun Fur

Fun with Fun Fur

They say that you can categorize the way women dress in two ways: women who dress for men and women who dress for women. Last week, I wore this outfit to work and it was immediately apparent which category I fall into. Within the span of a half hour, the men in my office had dished out about a dozen quick witted comments regarding the ‘road kill’ on my back or the ‘official Game of Thrones’ merchandise I was wearing. Despite their jeering, I will stand by the fact that this outfit was nothing short of fabulous. And the ladies in my office will stand behind me on this one!!! haha.

A few differences between this posting and the reality: my vest was from Modcloth, but alas it is sold out, and my dress was picked up from Club Monaco a couple of months back on super sale.

The entire look was pulled together with a high bun and a lot of sass. Oh yeah…I said sass…..now you’re mocking me aren’t you?!?! ;)

Happy Tuesday.

Tuesday Workwear

Tuesday Workwear
I love pencil skirts for work. I am obsessed with colourful pencil skirts. The one I wore to work on Tuesday is a cheapy from Forever 21, which I also own in hot pink. This shade of blue is perfect for work because it’s that bit of colour that my outfit needs to keep me from looking too dowdy….and I suppose the studded belt doesn’t scream librarian either. ;)
Happy Tuesday friends.

Monday Morning Pop of Color

Monday Morning Pop of Color
Starting off a work week in January is never fun, however I figured I would give it my best go by dressing with a pop of colour – hot pink to be exact! As we are well into winter in Calgary, panty hose is a must. I’m not kidding girls. No amount of self tanner is going to make my legs appropriate for tight-free outfits. Special thanks to Kate Middleton for bring pantyhose back….I owe you one. ;) Now….let’s take on this week friends.

Nugget’s Christmas Party

Nugget's Christmas Party
It was Nugget’s Christmas party tonight at his daycare. I had to go straight to the party after work, so I wanted to wear something that was cute (and warm) at work, but that was also appropriate for hanging out with the little man and his daycare buddies in the evening. This sweater was another sale item from Old Navy and the cute polka dots just make me happy! :) I’d be lying if I told you all that my jeans didn’t look like I’d been run over by a tractor by the end of the night, but hanging out and doing crafts with Nugget was definitely worth it!

Christmas Shopping Day

Christmas Shopping Day
Nugget, Dear John and I had a busy but relaxed day on Saturday getting the supplies for Nugget’s train board (which will be featured shortly) and enjoying a surprisingly drama free lunch with the little man in a restaurant. That’s right friends!!!! I faced my fears about taking Nugget into a restaurant and shockingly, it was relaxed and quite enjoyable. A Christmas miracle perhaps?!? Whatever it is, I’ll take it. This look was a quick throw together, but I liked the mixture of pattern and texture.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend friends. ;)

Happy Birthday 12/12/12

Happy Birthday 12/12/12
It’s my birthday on December 12th and it also happens to be my work Christmas party. For both of these reasons I needed to put together a cute little number that was fun and festive, but still work appropriate. The skirt I have is from Nasty Gal (featured in ‘Two Pugs and a Nugget Love Ombre’). It is fairly short, but with solid black tights, it becomes a heck of a lot more conservative. Once again, I am going to be rocking my black ankle booties from Modcloth and piling on the gold bangles, and ‘tough girl’ bracelets. Who said getting older wasn’t fun or fashionable?!?
One year older and never better! :)
